Vietnam Glass Museum

Vietnam Glass Museum

The Stained Glass Art Museum, the first museum in Vietnam specializing in stained glass art, officially opened on the evening of March 15, 2025, at Da Vinci Camp, Ba Trai Commune, Ba Vi District, Hanoi.

The museum was founded by journalist and diplomat Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations, who spent nearly 40 years collecting over 2,000 rare stained glass works from around the world. These include pieces from famous glass lines such as Murano (Italy), Bohemian (Czech Republic), Tiffany (USA), and Mayer Munich (Germany).

This collection, which the founder donated to the community through the management of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations, includes many classic works such as the 8m x 6m "The Nativity" piece manufactured by Mayer Munich in the 19th century for a church in New York, USA. The museum is not only a place to display classical stained glass works but also expands space for contemporary art, encouraging creativity from Vietnamese artists.

The museum's goal is to contribute to diversifying the field of conservation and museums in Vietnam, creating a space for cultural and artistic exchange, encouraging creativity in the application of stained glass manufacturing technology, and promoting international cultural exchange. The museum also plans to organize seminars, talks, short-term exhibitions, online museum activities, and cooperate with domestic and foreign artisans to develop this field in Vietnam.
